"I really enjoyed listening to Sally Port Paddy and Miracle on Fourth Street in particular. It's nice to hear someone playing music who is clearly having a lot of fun!"
Gman and Keeney: Press / Reviews
G-Force
Guitarist Gary “G-Man” Wesselhoff will perform three 50-minute sets beginning at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the Brazen Head, 13602 S. Cicero Ave., Crestwood, (708) 388-8862. The show will include some partying blues, plus an eclectic mix of acoustic rock ‘n’ roll.
Wesselhoff and David Keeney will lean on material from G-Man Blues’ latest CD, “G-Force,” which features tunes evoking styles ranging from Chicago blues and Jimmy Buffett’s laid-back rock meanderings to experimental 1960s sounds.
Armed chiefly with Wesselhoff’s varied voice, acoustic guitar and harmonica, G-Man Blues manages to manufacture a wide mix of music in such numbers as “Onederous You” and “Sally Port Paddy.”
“G-Force” also features unplugged bonus tracks of both numbers that give a feel for G-Man Blues may sound like live. More information is at www.gmanblues.com.

Recently I got to review four of Gman's songs. I was really looking forward to the opportunity to review something a little bit different from what I normally get to review.
The four songs of his I got to review are "Happy Birthday Baby", "Knee Deep", "Sally Port Paddy", and "Onederous you".
My personal favorite was the gritty soulful Onederous You! This is a great song. It's something that you can really dance to. It's also a song that anyone can dig.
All four songs are worth checking out and enjoying. Gman is taking Chicago by Storm -- he defiantly puts the blue in blues!

G-man Blues fans eagerly await the arrival of "G-force" due this summer. G-man hasn't issued a release date regarding when it will hit both store’s and electronic shelves but says that it will be out in time for summer parties, beer gardens, and beaches. Sounds good to us.
The album opens with a track called “Liar”. About this track gman says “Late in the night, deep in the blues laboratory, I conducted secretive experiments in sound. Liar is a profound connection of thoughts, melody, and emotions. I love this song so much that I knew from the first time I ran through it, its name, and also that it would be the albums opener”
He continues with the funky upbeat “Onederous You” --a song about all the “Onederous things that you do”. Gman wails some notable blues harp riffs on Onederous. The center piece for the album however is not a blues song, but rather the pop piece “Sally Port Paddy”. The song is about a woman who misuses her medication creating a “Sally Port” or escape hatch from reality. Says gman: “This song has a wonderful groove that contrasts with the main characters disastrous end. Even in that however, there is a cheery resolution to the story. I had a lot to say about Sally—so much so that I actually wrote a short story about her and pulled events out of the story for the song”.
When Paddy Takes her Pill, She Starts another Day
It’s latte and “IB” and shower steam, to get back in that good good-day thing
Sun comes up, streams through the clouds; radio samba playin’ loud
Can’t wait to board that train, cause Paddy feels no pain.
There are other gems on the record including a Birthday Song that gman has written for the MySpace commnuity.
The player of “Upbeat Rock and Blues” has pre-released several tracks from G-force available on his main, and MYSPACE web pages. Reviews for the song are being propagated throughout the Internet as you read.

GREENWOOD – You could barely see 9-year-old Joshua Taylor peek out from over the drum set on the soundstage at Galt Airport. But he made his presence known.
He smiled as he took the stage Saturday morning to back up G-Man Blues solo artist Gary Wesselhoff's rendition of Corky Siegel's "Half Asleep at the Wheel." Opportunities for 9-year-olds to play with a blues band do not come often. And despite a tiny audience for the two-day Woodstock-Katrina Relief Concert, Taylor gave it his all.
Taylor and his grandmother, Brenda Phoenix, called New Orleans home before the hurricane all but destroyed the Big Easy. They now live with other evacuees in Elgin, but their plight wasn't on Phoenix's mind as her grandson sat behind the drum set on the rural soundstage.
"He's never really had formal lessons," she said. "He started out when he was 2 years old."
Skies darkened late Saturday morning over a tiny crowd as organizer Debbie De Stefano and the representatives from the McHenry County Sheriff's Department worked out a deal for police coverage. The department would not require further police protection at $40 an hour. De Stefano argued that it would take money away from hurricane relief, and sheriff's deputies argued that it was necessary to keep order.
De Stefano and others hoped that the bands' loyal followings would boost attendance Saturday night, the last night of the show. Most of all, they hoped that the dark clouds would not bring rain, which surely would keep away attendees.
Regardless of turnout, the show went on for performers. More than 20 acts were slated for the two-day event.
The rain that organizers hoped would stay away came at 1:30 p.m., a steady drizzle that lasted at least two hours.

Northwest HeraldKatrina victim to play in local benefit show
CRYSTAL LAKE - Frank Oxley is living proof that music is stronger than wind.
Forced to flee New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina destroyed most of his hometown and his belongings, Oxley ended up 1,000 miles away at an evacuee shelter in Elgin. On Friday and Saturday, he will visit a place far more familiar - on stage alongside a band, behind a drum set and in front of a crowd.
"It's going to be a release," said Oxley, 54, a professional musician who has played the drums since he was 5. "I'm getting a chance to play some drums and try to get this Katrina thing to the back of my head."
Organizers said Oxley will perform with G-Man Blues and several of the 21 bands scheduled to play Friday and Saturday at a benefit concert at Galt Airport in Greenwood. All proceeds will go to The Salvation Army's hurricane relief effort.
"This is one of the best community efforts we have ever seen," said Debbie Destefano of Entertainment Aid, who recruited tribute bands, jam bands and other area musicians to perform. "The response has been fantastic. We have a show they'll never forget."

Gman Blues Gains Popularity With US Military
Chicago Based Blues Artist Gary "gman" Wesselhoff has been observing a steady increase in "Web Hits" to his Web-page by the US Military over the past few months.
Quotes gman "Our heroes so far from home love to be reminded of home and our way of life. The whole world loves our culture for that matter, especially our music. Americans have invented Rock, Blues, Jazz, Motown, RAP, and Country music to name a few of the top genres. Think about that--it is amazing. I am honored to be entertaining our troops, no matter how small the contribution may be."
He is also making the offer for them to download all of his songs for free. The military can email gman who will provide a link where they can download his songs.

Magic Bus Listing for gman Blues...
After a 20 year hiatus, a couple of years ago g-man sat in with some friends and immediately decided to return to music. Quotes g-man "When I returned, I discovered something forceful about myself; I found that I had new abilities that were not present when I was a kid—it’s much more than the synergy of practice and focus. I discovered that I could sing more dynamically, play more powerfully, and write better than ever". He began to chase the blues, and worked a blues harp into his act.
